5th ANNUAL WYATT TAYLOR BENEFIT RALLY 2023
WYATT TAYLOR:
On Sunday morning December 17, 2017, 14 year old Wyatt Taylor was on his ATV heading to a remote pasture to feed his family's horses. Traveling on the side of the road, the ATV hit an unseen rock causing him to lose control of the steering. The ATV rolled over down an embankment, over a barbed wire fence, and into a ditch. Wyatt was thrown from the ATV and ended up pinned underneath it with his face forced against the tire. To make matters worse, during the crash the throttle was pinned into the engaged position resulting in the tire spinning against his face. After 30 minutes, the ATV ran out of gas, Wyatt escaped and was life flighted to UNMH.
As a result of the accident, Wyatt sustained full thickness burns down to the bone on the right side of his face from the top of his head to his jawline, with major damage to his right eye and the right side of his nose, including full thickness burns to portions of his left hand and arm. Wyatt faces years of recovery and many complicated and unique reconstructive surgeries, and therapies to restore his face, save his vision, and regain the use of his left hand.
Wyatt is an amazing young man! He always has a smile and a cheerful word for everyone he meets. His heart is as big and beautiful as the mountains he calls home. With a true servant's heart he is happiest serving his community of La Cueva, New Mexico. His dream came true when he became a full-fledge Wildland Firefighter with the United States Forest Service.

With the COVID mess being what it is, this year’s event is going to be a little different than last year’s. We are still riding up to the Jemez Mountains, but when we get there, we’re going to hang outside (unless there’s a lightning storm), eat some burgers & dogs and have some cold drinks, hang with our friends, make new friends and best of all, let Wyatt know that New Mexico’s motorcycle riding community has his back. We are requiring attendees to wear face masks as dictated by the governor and social distancing. There is plenty of room in the parking area/field where we will be to accomplish this. We are continuing to monitor the New Mexico’s Dept of Health website as well as the governor’s mandates.
THE RIDE: We are going have organized 5 staging areas for riders to gather the morning of the ride. Los Alamos, Cedar Crest, Santa Fe, Espanola and Albuquerque.

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY CLEANUP EVENT
We are organizing an Adopt-A-Highway cleanup event on Saturday, June 6th. We are cleaning up both of our sections leading into Los Alamos and White Rock. Please join us. We will have safety vests, trash bags, trash grabbers, gloves, sunscreen and water.

2020 1st SATURDAY RIDE FOR WYATT
Join us on a big ride starting in Los Alamos, heading to Pojoaque, then Mora, Angel Fire, Taos, Dixon and back home. We will be collecting donations for Wyatt Taylor, the junior firefighter from Jemez Springs who was injured on an ATV in 2017.

Los Alamos County Proclamation "May is Motorcycle Awareness Month"
The Los Alamos County Council will be reading the proclamation that the Jemez Riders authored declaring “May as Motorcycle Awareness Month”.

2019 Los Alamos WinterFest Holiday Light Parade
JRMA participated in the 2019 Los Alamos WinterFest Holiday Light Parade. We had a great time connecting with the community while passing out candy, motorcycle awareness magnets, and Jemez Riders stickers.
Adopt-A-Highway NM502 Main Hill Rd
JRMA held a clean up event for our newest adopted section of highway: Mile Marker 5 to 6 on NM502 (the Main Hill Rd) leading into Los Alamos. It was quite an effort as that area is mostly made up of very narrow stretches between a cliff side and a steep canyon. We all wore high-vis vests and used traffic cones to guide motorists away from us. It took 7 hrs but we picked up more than 50 bags of trash along with car parts, road signs and other large debris. Thank you to everyone that showed up and helped.

Homecoming Parade
For the 3rd straight year, we will have a float in the high school Homecoming parade.
LAHS Homecoming Parade
For the 2nd year, JRMA participated in the Los Alamos High school’s Homecoming Parade. We handed out candy, magnets, stickers and made a lot of new friends.

1st Annual - Ride To The Springs
In September of 2019, JRMA organized a charity ride for Wyatt Taylor, a junior firefighter who was severely injured in an ATV accident. We also raised money for a small church in the Jemez Springs during the same event. Over 70 motorcycles from as far away as Farmington and Albuquerque showed up to support the event. About 30 more folks came in vehicles and we all enjoyed the Chili Challenge, hot dogs, nachos and other great food. We raised over $11,700.00 in our first attempt at a charity event.
Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up NM4 / NM502
JRMA scheduled it’s first ever clean up for the NM-4 / NM-502 Interchange. It is a very large area and we wound up collecting over 60 bags worth of trash.
